Forget Miami or Naples.

The best place for foodies in Florida is Sarasota.

So says Conde Nast Traveler magazine in its annual survey of the 15 best food cities in the United States. Sarasota is ranked No. 14 on the survey, one spot ahead of Palm Beach. Charleston, S.C. is the No. 1 city on the list, and established foodie locales, including New Orleans, New York and Las Vegas, are in the top five.

The magazine cites two specific restaurants for Sarasota: Indigenous and C'est La Vie.

“In a region best known for Technicolor sunsets and thatched-roof daiquiri bars, chef Steven Phelps is holding the farm-to-table torch at Indigenous, beloved for its aromatic mushroom bisque garnished with truffled rye croutons,” states a Conde Nast online post. “In the morning, locals gather at Main Street sidewalk cafe C'est La Vie bakery for savory crêpes and fresh croissants.”
