TAMPA — The Colonnade Restaurant, a waterfront restaurant in Tampa, has closed its kitchen for good.

Ascentia Development Group and Batson-Cook Development Co. purchased the restaurant in a joint venture, according to a statement. The restaurant sold in two separate parcels for a combined $6.2 million, according to Hillsborough County records.

The parcel, on the southwest corner of West Julia Street and Bayshore Boulevard, is one of the last on Bayshore “specifically entitled for a high-rise tower,” the statement says. The new owners are planning luxury waterfront condos with views of downtown Tampa and Hillsborough Bay.

“We thank the ownership family of the Colonnade for entrusting us with a property where they served the Tampa community for many generations,” says Jay Tallman, principal of Ascentia, in the statement. “We are excited to bring a new project to life along Bayshore Boulevard, and we are confident that what we will propose will set a new standard of excellence for Tampa.”

Sarasota-based Ascentia Development Group has led developments across Florida, including the Beau Ciel condo tower in Sarasota and the Aria residential project on Longboat Key.

Batson-Cook Development Co. has partnered with developers throughout the Midwest and southeast and has delivered projects worth more than $2 billion.
