Tampa hospital exec adds new role

TAMPA — Tampa General Hospital president and CEO Jim Burkhart has been elected vice chair/chairman-elect of the Florida Hospital Association.

Burkhart previously spent two years as a trustee for the association and one year as treasurer. He was nominated by the executive committee and elected by his peers at the hospital association, according to a release.

Prior to coming to Tampa General Hospital, Burkhart was president and CEO of UF Health Jacksonville, formerly known as UF & Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

The FHA has 214 member hospital and health systems statewide.
