A memorial service has been set for prominent architect and entrepreneur Rick Fawley, who died Sept. 2.

The celebration of life service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the South Florida Museum in downtown Bradenton. Fawley and Mike Bryant co-founded Lakewood Ranch-based Fawley|Bryant Architecture in 1994, a firm that ultimately grew into one of the largest independently owned architecture, design and urban planning firms on the Gulf Coast.

“Rick was a true visionary who loved this community and people,” according to a statement on the service.

Fawley|Bryant and some of Fawley's friends have established the Rick and Coni Fawley Memorial Fund through Goodwill Manasota. Fawley will also be honored posthumously at the Goodwill Manasota Ambassador of the Year Awards Dinner scheduled for Oct. 7 at Michael's On East in Sarasota. Fawley was on the Goodwill Manasota Board of Directors from 1994 to 2014.

Fawley had a minor illness, Bryant says, but the cause of his death was unknown. His official obituary, published Sept. 20, says he passed away peacefully at home.
