FORT MYERS — Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers started construction of a two-story clubhouse that will have two restaurants, a fitness center and a spa.

The 35,000-square-foot building will be on the community's golf course and will also include a pro shop, locker rooms and a climate-controlled cart barn.

“The $14 million clubhouse is designed to provide a comfortable place to gather and relax, with formal and casual dining options, professional salon and spa services and spacious meeting spaces available for booking, among other luxury amenities.” says Scott Moore, vice president of operations at Shell Point.

Fort Myers-based Wright Construction is scheduled to complete the building by next fall. Shell Point, near the causeway to Sanibel island, is a continuing care retirement community with 2,400 residents.
