FORT MYERS — Shipt says it will deliver groceries to consumers from Publix Super Markets in Fort Myers and Naples starting later this month.

For an annual fee of $99, Shipt customers can use a mobile application to order groceries from Publix stores. The Birmingham, Ala.-based company already operates in Tampa and Sarasota.

“Demand for grocery delivery in Florida is at an all-time high right now,” says Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt, in a statement. The service in Naples and Fort Myers will begin Nov. 18.

There is no limit to how much customers can order and they include fresh produce, meat and other perishable items. The company plans to hire 150 shoppers in Fort Myers and Naples and deliveries can be scheduled in one-hour windows as soon as one hour after an order is placed.
