BONITA SPRINGS — Downing-Frye Realty has named real estate and banking veteran Gerald Murphy managing broker in Bonita Springs.

Murphy was most recently the managing broker and district manager for Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate and oversaw the Bonita Springs and Naples markets.

“The addition of Jerry Murphy reflects our commitment to the Bonita market,” says Mike Hughes, vice president and general manager of Naples-based Downing-Frye. “Jerry brings strength and experience to this position and will be instrumental in helping agents with their day-to-day questions regarding sales and marketing.”

Prior to moving to Southwest Florida, Murphy owned and operated his own real estate firm in Monmouth County, N.J. and also served as president of Hovnanian Realty.

In addition to real estate, Murphy also had an extensive commercial banking career in New Jersey including the startup of Shrewsbury State Bank. Murphy also was organizing founder of Tinton Falls State Bank, serving as chairman and director prior to its sale to Commerce Bank Corp.
