FORT MYERS — Lee Memorial Health System, the fourth-largest public health system in the country, named Kevin Newingham chief strategy officer.

With more than 11,000 employees, Lee Memorial operates four acute-care hospitals and two specialty hospitals, as well as outpatient centers and physician offices.

In addition to leading the system's strategic planning efforts, Newingham is responsible for marketing and communications, media, government, community relations, market research, physician relations and sales. Newingham also chairs the system's strategy council and planning for the south Lee medical village project called Lee Memorial at Coconut Point.

Lee Memorial also appointed Dave Cato to the position of chief administrative officer for outpatient services and named Sharon MacDonald chief administrative officer of oncology and home health services.

“These adjustments help align senior executive talent to provide leadership clarity and accountability as our organization continues its evolution from a hospital system to a broader health system focused on developing a more coordinated health care delivery system for the citizens we serve,” says Jim Nathan, president and CEO of Lee Memorial Health System, in a statement. “These adjustments are also intended to help further align ambulatory services into an organized team focused on strengthening clinical integration to improve coordination of care, patient experience and access to services in our community.”
