TAMPA — Michael Roth has been named the Tampa Bay region president for IberiaBank, which last week expanded its presence in the area.

Roth brings nearly 20 years of commercial banking experience, most recently working as a senior vice president for BankUnited in Tampa. Roth also is a major in the U.S. Army, commanding a special forces group. He served tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“Mike is the epitome of a great leader both in his professional career as a banker, as well as through his service to our country,” says Susie Martinez, IberiaBank's Florida regional president, in a release. “As market president, Mike will play an instrumental role in building our Tampa Bay franchise.”

IberiaBank currently operates four locations in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, after its acquisition last week of Florida Bank Group Inc. The Louisiana-based company said it will expand that even further later this month when it closes on the purchase of Old Florida Bancshares Inc., which maintains locations primarily in the greater Orlando area.

Before adding Florida Bank Group to the mix in the cash and stock deal, IberiaBank's regional presence was primarily in Manatee and Sarasota counties, with a presence in the Fort Myers-Naples market.
