The deans of the Southwest Florida furniture market are back — and their timing is impeccable.

The Lubner family, which built and subsequently lost the upscale Robb & Stucky furniture empire during the boom and bust, are opening a store in Boca Raton under the Clive Daniel Home brand.

The Lubners started over in November 2011 when they opened an 87,000-square-foot Clive Daniel Home store in Naples. Clive and Daniel are the first names of the father-son Lubner team.

The Lubners have made it no secret that expansion would be part of the plan for Clive Daniel Home. “We've been scouring the east coast for nearly three years for the perfect location,” says Daniel Lubner, president and CEO of the furniture retailer.

The new Boca Raton store will be built on Glades Road, between Federal Highway and Interstate 95. The Lubners and investors will spend $12 million on the project, including $8 million on the construction of a 70,000-square-foot, two-story building. The store will employ 65 people, including 25 interior designers.

The company says sales at Clive Daniel have grown 30% to 40% annually in the last two years. Lubner attributed the growth in part to a void in high-end furnishings.
