Filming a fast-boat chase through the Hong Kong Harbor at night and navigating a 1,000-foot ship with helicopters through the Malacca Straights, one of the world's busiest ship channels, takes a steady hand at the helm.

But when it comes to Hollywood water stunts, it's a good bet that Lance Julian's Naples-based company, Marine Team International, was involved. The company he runs with his son Harry Julian recently coordinated the water stunts on the latest Hollywood thriller called “Blackhat.”

“Blackhat,” directed by Michael Mann, is an action movie that follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago through Los Angeles and Hong Kong to Jakarta. Marine Team International assisted with acquiring the marine vessels used in the film, as well as coordinating water scenes and water safety.

The Julians have been involved in other big-budget Hollywood movies with water scenes, including “Titanic” and James Bond movies such as “Quantum of Solace.” They also provided the marine operations for the “Survivor” television series.
