CLEARWATER — The Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Carol Hague as its new president and CEO. Hague is taking over for Bob Clifford, who is retiring. Hague has served as chief operating officer for the recently expanded Johnson Pope Bokor Ruppel & Burns LLP law firm since 1993.

Hague is a 40-year veteran of the Tampa Bay legal community and served as a chamber board member since 2006. She was chairwoman for two consecutive terms. She is also an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College, co-founder of the AchieveHERs women professionals group and was a past recipient of the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce's Woman of the Year Award.

“Carol has been with us at Johnson Pope for over 20 years, and through a series of job changes, wound up doing the job of three prior executives simultaneously — and she has done it incredibly well,” Guy Burns, managing partner at Johnson Pope, says in a press release. “She is our MVP, is highly successful in everything she does, and will be greatly missed. We wish her every success at the chamber.”

Clifford, who has run the chamber since 2009, announced that he was stepping down from the position as president and CEO effective March 1. He will be staying on as senior vice president during Hague's transition and plans to retire completely in December.
