ST. PETERSBURG — Janice Balzano has been named CEO of the St. Petersburg General Hospital. She replaces Robert Conroy Jr., who has retired.
Balzano has more than 30 years' experience in health care leadership. She was the chief operating officer for HCA West Florida's Brandon Regional Hospital for the past two-and-a-half years. Prior to joining Brandon Regional, Balzano was the COO at West Hills Hospital, an HCA affiliate in Los Angeles.
Before she came to work for HCA, Balzano served at several hospitals affiliated with Sutter Health, a large nonprofit hospital system in the San Francisco Bay area. There she served as the chief financial officer and assistant administrator strategy and business development. Balzano also previously worked for a large multispecialty medical group in northern California as the assistant administrator for finance.
“Janice's past experience includes success in strategy and finance as well as creating a safe and comfortable environment for patient care,” Peter Marmerstein, HCA's West Florida president, says in a press release. “With her background, knowledge and expertise, she is uniquely suited to lead St. Petersburg General Hospital.”
St. Petersburg General Hospital is a 215-bed acute care hospital, providing emergency, diagnostic, medical, surgical and women's services.
