TAMPA — For the second time in two years, the Hampton Inn in Tampa's Westshore District has changed hands, but this time at a 24% discount.

EH Tampa Westshore LLC, a company affiliated with Dallas-based Encore Enterprises, closed on the 133-room hotel at 4817 W. Laurel St., Thursday for $12 million. That's less than the $15.8 million Leeward Strategic Properties purchased the hotel for in April 2013.

Encore, which describes itself on its website as a diversified commercial real estate investment firm, bought the property through an $11 million mortgage with General Electric Capital Corp., according to Hillsborough County property records.

The hotel is Encore's only property holding in Florida, according to its website, with most of its real estate focused in Texas.

With the sale, Leeward cut its hotel property holdings in Hillsborough County in half. The company still owns the Doubletree by Hilton not far from the Hampton, at 4500 W. Cypress St. It purchased that hotel through a deed in lieu of foreclosure in September 2013 for $35.2 million.
