SARASOTA — Goodwill Manasota announced an agreement with ReQuip Stores Inc. to offer Goodwill donors the option to gift used or excess equipment. ReQuip Stores, which has a location in Sarasota near Ed Smith Stadium and in Eden Prairie, Minn., specializes in selling used and excess equipment.

The partnership is designed to allow Goodwill Manasota to accept a larger range of donation items.

ReQuip will handle the entire equipment donation process from pick-up, inspection, warehousing, selling and delivery to the end customer. After the equipment is sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Goodwill.

“We believe in giving back, and it's important to pair up with companies who have the same goals in mind,” Larry Anderson, president of ReQuip Stores Inc., says in a press release. “...If companies donate their surplus equipment to a great cause, everyone wins. There are tax benefits that motivate people to look for creative ways to give back, the nonprofits we work with earn funds, and items are essentially given a second life, keeping them out of the landfills.”

Goodwill Manasota sells donated goods with the goal of using the retail businesses and proceeds to assist people with disabilities and other barriers to employment with job skills training and employment opportunities.
