NAPLES — California-based Five Star Gourmet Foods will create 250 jobs and invest $10 million in Collier County as part of its expansion plans in the eastern United States.
The specialty foods manufacturer is spending $6 million to buy a 65,000-square-foot facility at 3600 Shaw Blvd. in Naples and will spend another $4 million in capital investment, according to a statement from the county.
“This is a beautiful state-of-the-art facility that will allow us expand our distribution of healthy fresh and frozen foods along the East Coast,” says Tal Shoshan, CEO of Five Star Gourmet Foods, in a statement. “There is a great workforce here, and our partnership with local and county leaders has been wonderful.”
Collier County has agreed to subsidize the company's expansion by granting Five Star as much as $3,500 per job over the next four years, or a total of $875,000. The award will be granted if the company pays employees at or above the prevailing industry wage.
“This project will bring quality jobs in an industry very much aligned with our agricultural food production tradition in Collier County and one that will continue to be important for our economic development,” says Tim Nance, chairman of the Collier County board of commissioners, in a statement.
