Heading to Marco Island for a fun weekend? Be sure to bring your beach towel, suntan lotion and a stack of cash.

Cheaphotels.org labeled Marco Island Florida's most expensive beach destination, where travelers spend an average of $302 per night for the most affordable double room.

The survey only looked at hotels that were located close to the beach and had a positive average client rating.

Sanibel Island shouldn't chuckle, however. The beach there is the state's second-most expensive, with an average hotel night costing $287. Fort Myers Beach was fifth, behind Key West and Delray Beach at $214 each night.

Also making the list were Anna Maria Island, ranked seventh with a $197 average; Sarasota, ranked ninth with $183; and St. Pete Beach, ranked 10th with average hotel costs at $181.

All of these beaches are more expensive to stay in than Miami Beach. The average price there during the survey period was $178, and it didn't even make the top 10.
