NAPLES — Hertz Global Holdings Chairman and CEO Mark Frissora has resigned for what the company says were personal reasons.
Frissora, who has a home in Naples, led the car-rental giant's move to Southwest Florida from New Jersey last year. The company is building an $85 million corporate campus in Estero, halfway between Naples and Fort Myers.
Hertz' board of directors has appointed Brian MacDonald as interim CEO while it searches for a permanent replacement. MacDonald is CEO of Hertz Equipment Rental.
Frissora has been under pressure since accounting issues arose and the company struggled with operational problems. Recently, activist investor Carl Icahn boosted his stake in the car-rental giant. Hertz did not elaborate as to the reasons for Frissora's resignation.
