Sarasota financial adviser Raul Elizalde was selected to participate in an unusual industry event later this month in New York City.

Elizalde, president of Sarasota-based Path Financial, will be part of National Financial Advisor Week, according to a release. Most of the programs will take place outside in the middle of Times Square in Manhattan. Elizalde, the release states, will help kick of the first day of the weeklong event, Sept. 15, during a “rapid fire” panel discussion.

Elizalde will talk about headline topics that impact everyday investors. Those topics include high-frequency trading; Federal Reserve policy; the outlook on stock prices and interest rates; and how global unrest may affect savings and investments. Elizalde is regularly quoted in the financial press and published in financial publications like Morningstar, Motley Fool, the Street and Yahoo! Finance. Elizalde also chairs the asset management committee for the State College of Florida Foundation, which manages around $51 million in assets.

National Financial Advisor Week is presented by AdviceIQ, a national online service that helps consumers make decisions about how to manage their investments. Sponsors include USA Today, Reuters and the Financial Planning Association.
