ESTERO — More than 125 Hertz and Turner Construction employees signed the last structural beam to be installed on the new global headquarters building of the car-rental giant.
When it's completed next year, the Hertz building will accommodate 700 employees. The $85 million office project will measure nearly 250,000 square feet and will include a dining facility, a fitness center, covered parking and walking trails. New York City based Turner Construction is the general contractor overseeing the project.
“Today we're celebrating an important milestone in the construction of our new headquarters - a building aligned with our vision as an innovative and sustainable company,” says Todd Poste, Hertz executive vice president of global supply chain and administration, in a statement after the topping-off ceremony on Thursday.
In May 2013, Hertz announced it was moving its global headquarters to Estero from New Jersey. The move followed Hertz' acquisition of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group.
The new corporate campus is located at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Williams Road in Estero, between Fort Myers and Naples. Since November 2013, Hertz executives have worked from temporary office space in Naples and Bonita Springs until the new building is completed.
