The hospitality industry is looking for the next generation of hoteliers.
Now in its second year, Florida Gulf Coast University's School of Resort & Hospitality Management in Fort Myers will host a dozen local high school students for a five-day industry immersion program in June.
Funded by Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, the Hyatt High School Summer Bridge Program will host the students for three days at FGCU and two days at the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs.
Students will get to meet industry executives, tour the hotels and participate in culinary demonstrations. Students from FGCU's hospitality school will also take part in the program.
This is a smart move to ensure a pipeline of job candidates in the future, especially as unemployment continues to decline in the recovery.
