SARASOTA — Conferences that promote service design, a concept that revolves around the idea that companies should design services for customers that eliminate all hassles, are being held in Tampa and Sarasota this weekend.

The conferences, called jam sessions, are part of a larger project of like-minded events going on in more than 120 cities worldwide, according to a press release. Each location will have the weekend, the release states, to “develop and prototype completely new services inspired by the principles of service design.” Several service design industry experts spoke at the second annual International Service Design + Tourism Conference last November in Sarasota, hosted by the Ringling College of Art and Design.

Sarasota-based web design and marketing firm atLarge is hosting the Sarasota Service Jam. Sponsors for the Tampa Service Jam include Ringling College, Tampa Bay Wave and the Tampa Bay Technology Forum. “The event will unite people that simply want to understand how to create a better experience for their customer,” states the release.
