TAMPA — Arthur Wood III, 69, president and CEO of Railroad & Industrial Federal Credit Union, has announced he will retire Oct. 1. He has served in that position with the Tampa-based credit union for the past 17 years.
Peter Giorgianni, 55, Railroad & Industrial's vice president of operations, will take over the position Oct. 2.
During Wood's tenure, Railroad & Industrial more than doubled its assets, membership base and branch locations.
“Art's extraordinary performance, integrity and character have enabled the credit union to grow into one of the strongest, most well-managed credit unions in the area,” Railroad & Industrial Board Chairman Ben Davis says in a press release. “After years of succession planning and deliberate consideration for several months, we are proud to name Pete as the next President/CEO.”
Giorgianni, joined Railroad & Industrial in 1984 as manager of the Plant City branch, and later he became vice president of lending. Giorgianni has held his current position since 1997.
Established in 1935, Railroad & Industrial Federal Credit Union is a nonprofit financial cooperative with more than $281 million in assets and eight branches located throughout east Hillsborough County and west Polk County. It provides services to more than 27,000 members and more than 800 businesses.
