Is it a coincidence that one of the most beautiful hospitals in the country is near the most beautiful beaches?
We can think of many “most beautiful” places to visit in Southwest Florida, including our favorite beaches on the Gulf Coast.
But if you have to be in the hospital it may as well be Gulf Coast Medical Center. The hospital in Fort Myers recently made the list of Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals, according to a ranking by hospital-staffing company Soliant Health. It's owned by Lee Memorial Health Systems.
This isn't a promo from the local tourism bureau. Research has shown that patients and their families benefit from recovery in a pleasant environment.
High glass ceilings with natural light, palm trees and fountains are part of the hospital's ambiance. Despite the pleasant surroundings, we'd rather be at the beach.
