Globally, Gartner is the go-to source for anyone keeping tabs on the technology industry. In Fort Myers, it's one of the go-to companies for jobs.

The company plans to build a $20 million building next to the one it is in now and add another 400 jobs to its ranks by 2019. By then, Gartner could employ as many as 1,150 people in Fort Myers.

The average salary and benefits at Gartner will total about $63,000, according to Lee County economic development officials. Lee County commissioners recently approved a $1.48 million subsidy for the company for the project, in addition to a $3.47 million subsidy from the state.
