PORT CHARLOTTE — Lee Memorial Health System has opened a pediatric specialty clinic, providing specialized care to patients who previously had to travel to Fort Myers from Charlotte County.

“Having pediatric specialists at the new Charlotte County location will help us to provide medical care to children in need while keeping them as close to home as possible,” says Emad Salman, medical director of Golisano Children's Hospital at Lee Memorial, in a statement.  “This lessens the burden on families as they tend to the needs of an ill child, giving them less to worry about.”

The new specialty clinic is located at 18316 Murdock Circle, Suite 106, in Port Charlotte.

This is the second specialty clinic Lee Memorial has established in Southwest Florida as part of Golisano Children's Hospital. The first opened in Collier County in 2011 and was expanded in 2012 to accommodate growing demand.

Specialists in various fields such as hematology and oncology will rotate through the Port Charlotte clinic based on need, offering a range of specialized medical treatment for children from birth through age 20. Lee Memorial Health System's electronic health records system will help to coordinate care between the clinic, emergency department and hospitals.
