PUNTA GORDA — Punta Gorda Airport saw 47,091 passengers in January, a 144% increase over the same month last year.
Allegiant Air, the airport's sole carrier, has boosted service to 23 cities and based crews at the Southwest Florida airport. “We are very pleased with the passenger growth to Southwest Florida through Punta Gorda,” says Gary Quill, the executive director of the Charlotte County Airport Authority, owner and operator of the Punta Gorda airport.
Allegiant carries passengers to Punta Gorda from smaller airports in the Northeast and the Midwest. Cities include Allentown, Pa., Knoxville, Tenn., South Bend, Ind., and Youngstown, Ohio.
