ST. PETERSBURG — American Banker Magazine has named C1 Bank President and CEO Trevor Burgess its Community Banker of the Year. The magazine article focuses on Burgess' Wall Street experience and his application of those lessons to community banking. It also discussed C1 Bank's marketing, training and technology.

“It's truly an honor to be recognized as American Banker's 2014 Community Banker of the Year,” Burgess says in a press release. “Every day we come to work and try to do the right thing by our clients and our community. We've stayed focused on that objective and we've been able to grow because of it.”

Earlier this month, C1 Bank was recognized by SNL Financial as the sixth fastest growing bank in the country since 2009, when Burgess and three other investors recapitalized C1 Bank's predecessor.

C1 Financial Inc. (symbol: BNK; recent price: $18.18) is the bank holding company for C1 Bank.

Earlier this year, Burgess was named one of the Business Observer's Entrepreneurs of the Year. To read the story click here.
