TAMPA — Institutional money manager LCG Advisors formed LCG Private Client Group to provide investment services to business owners, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals and families.

The formation of LCG's Private Client Group follows an investment by Gregg Smith, the company says. Smith was co-founder of Smith Breeden Associates, an investment advisory firm that manages portfolios for institutional investors such as pension funds, foundations and insurance companies. Since retiring from Smith Breeden, Smith has been actively investing in the banking and financial services sectors.

“LCG has an unbelievable opportunity to leverage its core skills in the credit and capital markets and strong industry relationships to benefit individual investors like me,” Smith says in a statement. “The ability to be a single voice of advice to clients on both their securities portfolios and private investments, such as private businesses and alternative investments, serves a huge need in the market.”

In addition, the firm has hired Rafael Williamson as chief investment officer. Williamson formerly was senior investment strategist with Wells Fargo Bank.
