TAMPA — HealthPlan Services announced Wednesday it is expanding its Tampa offices. The company has signed a lease with property owner Penn-Florida for a 95,689-square-foot building at 6700 Lakeview Center Drive. HealthPlan Services says the additional space is needed to accommodate the more than 1,000 jobs it expects to add by 2018.

HealthPlan Services currently employs 652 people in Hillsborough County, the majority based in the company's headquarters in Westshore, and an additional 119 throughout the state.

Mercedes Angell and Jeff Lanning of Cushman & Wakefield represented Penn-Florida. Chad Rupp and Ann Marie Woessner-Collins of Jones Lang LaSalle assisted HealthPlan Services in the lease and in putting together the economic incentive package in collaboration with the local and state government.

In August, Hillsborough County commissioners and the Tampa City Council approved a combined local incentive package of $502,800 in addition to the $2.01 million in incentives committed by the state of Florida through the state's Qualified Target Industry program. The incentives are scheduled to be distributed over nine years and are performance-based.

Founded in 1970, HealthPlan Services is a technology, sales, retention and administrative services provider for the insurance and managed care markets.
