CLEARWATER — USAmeriBank is reporting that for the past 12 months it provided the most money in Small Business Administration 7(a) loans among all Tampa Bay-based institutions.

As of Sept. 30, the Clearwater-based bank had $26.6 million in SBA loans approved since September 2012, placing it above all other Tampa Bay-based banks, and at No. 5 in the SBA's South Florida district, which includes 116 SBA lenders. It also ranks 95th out of 2,345 SBA lenders nationally, based on its dollar volume of loans.

USAmeriBank has grown its SBA lending quickly since making its first SBA loan in September 2011. Its SBA loan volume in fiscal year 2013 was roughly double the volume of the previous year.

“We continue to see major opportunities for helping growing businesses with SBA loans as the economy continues to improve,” said Chris Kneer, senior vice president and business banking manager of USAmeriBank, who runs the bank's SBA program.
