FORT MYERS — Florida Gov. Rick Scott appointed CenturyLink executive Brian Hamman to the Lee County commission seat vacated by Tammy Hall.

Hamman, 32, of Cape Coral, is a manager of market development for telecommunications provider CenturyLink. Previously, Hamman was a financial adviser and television reporter in Fort Myers. Hamman's term will end Nov. 25, 2014. He already has filed to run for the seat and leads in fundraising among a half dozen candidates.

Hall resigned last month after she agreed to plead guilty to one count of wire fraud for embezzling money from her campaign account.

“Brian will serve the families of Lee County with honesty and integrity,” Scott says in a statement. “As a lifelong resident of Lee County, I am confident that he will make a great commissioner and will help create jobs and opportunities for the families of the area.”
