Business leaders will have an opportunity to learn about new federal laws affecting angel investing and venture capital at a free GrowFL event held next month at the Tampa office of Carlton Fields.

Seth Joseph and James Walker IV, shareholders at Carlton Fields, will discuss using electronic media to access accredited investors under the new SEC rules. Michael O'Donnell, founder of the Florida Angel Nexus, will examine how to prepare for the investment round, position your company, anticipate key information and avoid mistakes.

“Angel Investing and Venture Capital,” presented by the Florida Economic Gardening Institute at the University of Central Florida, will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 18 at 4221 W. Boy Scout Blvd., Suite 1000, Tampa.

Reservations are required. The event is open to growth companies seeking to expand beyond the startup phase. Admission is free and lunch will be provided.

The program is being provided in partnership by the University of Central Florida, the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, Florida Virtual Entrepreneur Center, Carlton Fields, the Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County, Tampa Bay Partnership, Tampa Bay Innovation Center, Pasco Economic Development Council, Florida Venture Forum and USF Connect.
