Inspiration Academy owner buys, occupying former Bradenton Prep

PRICE: $3.6 million
PREVIOUS PRICE: $650,000, May 1999

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Jason and Claire Speir purchased the 42,887-square-foot former Bradenton Prep Academy private school property for $3.6 million.

The price equated to $84 per square foot.

The 13-year-old facility features a main building, 30 classrooms, a basketball court, two science labs, 10 tennis courts and an outdoor playground. The seller, GTE Federal Credit Union, foreclosed on the 11-acre property in mid-2010.

Earlier this year, the Speirs opened an independent Christian preparatory high school called Inspiration Academy on the property. Jason Speir was unavailable for comment prior to deadline.

Purchase entity Clairebear Properties LLC mortgaged the property to GTE Federal Credit Union for $2.88 million.
