CLEARWATER — USAmeriBank has sold its insurance division, Connelly, Carlisle, Fields & Nichols, to Chicago-based insurance brokerage Hub International Limited.

The Connelly, Carlisle, Fields & Nichols operations will form a new regional operation doing business as Hub International Florida. Hub's existing Florida-based operations, currently led by Latimer Farr, will merge into the newly formed entity, and Farr will serve as president of Hub International's Florida personal lines.

As part of the sale, John Connelly, president of Connelly, Carlisle, Fields & Nichols, will join Hub as CEO of Hub International Florida. He will report to W. Kirk James, president of Hub International's Southeast/Mountain regions and chief operating officer for Hub.

Connelly, Carlisle, Fields & Nichols is one of Florida's largest independent insurance agencies, operating out of offices in Clearwater and Tampa. It sells commercial lines, employee benefits and personal insurance programs to businesses and individuals.

“[Connelly, Carlisle, Fields & Nichols] is comprised of a talented group of professionals, led by John Connelly, with a strong commitment to continuous growth,” James says in a press release. “We are extremely pleased to set a strong foundation for Hub's Florida operations, which we are committed to build in the future.”

USAmeriBank has agreed to refer customers with insurance needs to Hub International Florida.

Additional terms of the acquisition, which was completed Monday, were not disclosed.

Hub International Limited is one of the world's 10 largest insurance brokerages. It provides property and casualty, reinsurance, life and health, employee benefits, investment and risk management products and services throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Brazil.
