TAMPA — Big Truck Rental, a subsidiary of Trucks.com, has acquired AMTRUCK Rentals, a Canadian refuse truck rental company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AMTRUCK Limited, a family-owned business founded in 1984, buys and sells refuse and municipal equipment. The company began renting refuse equipment in 2005 and formed AMTRUCK Rentals, and has been expanding to service fleets throughout Canada since, a news release says.

The acquisition will allow AMTRUCK to have more access to offer a wider assortment of vehicles to its clients, through Big Truck Rental's relationship with refuse body manufacturer Heil, the release says.

“AMTRUCK has been growing on a parallel path to Big Truck Rental for years and during that time we would refer customers back and forth across the border, so we felt the time was right to officially merge,” says Russell Levy, president of AMTRUCK, in the release.

Big Truck Rental CEO Scott Dols says his firm has worked with AMTRUCK over the years, and the relationship made sense as his company looked to expand to Canada.

Big Truck Rental's parent company, Tampa-based Trucks.com, offers new trucks, used reconditioned trucks, truck parts, rental trucks and route-ready trucks through Web-driven storefronts.
