SARASOTA — Shaun Merriman, president and CEO of Gateway Bank of Southwest Florida, will serve as chairman of the board of trustees for Doctors Hospital of Sarasota in 2014, the bank announced in a statement.
In January, Merriman will take the helm as chairman of the board, which includes members from the health care and business community, and will last through the 2014 fiscal year. Merriman has served on Doctors Hospital's board since 2009.
“The commitment to our patients, employees and medical staff that Mr. Merriman has demonstrated has been matched only by his commitment to the Sarasota community as a whole,” Robert Meade, CEO of Doctors Hospital, says in the statement. “As a community hospital, we are proud to have someone leading the board that shares our dedication to outstanding quality and award-winning care.”
Doctors Hospital is a 155-bed, acute-care facility serving Sarasota County. Gateway Bank is an independent community bank that serves Sarasota and Manatee counties, with three full-service banking locations.
