TAMPA — In a recent article published on FoxNews.com, cruise columnist Paul Motter named the Port of Tampa one of the best cruise ship terminals in the world.
Motter writes that Tampa's terminal ranks among the top eight because of its proximity to top-rated airports, as well as the selection of hotels nearby. It also was chosen because of the development of the Channelside area with public parks, a movie theater, the Florida Aquarium, IMAX and nearby shopping and dining facilities.
According to its website, the Port of Tampa's cruise terminal homeports four vessels from three cruise lines: Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line. The port handles nearly 1 million passenger transports a year.
Motter says in the article he consulted with John Stoll, vice president of land programs for luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises, to form his list of “innovative terminals that make pulling into port extra special.”
In addition to Tampa, the following terminals made the list:
Shanghai International Cruise Terminal, Shanghai
Canada Place Terminal, Vancouver
Fort Lauderdale Terminal 18
Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, Hong Kong
Marina Bay Cruise Centre, Singapore
Marine Facade, St. Petersburg, Russia
Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal, Japan
