PASCO — The Pasco Economic Development Council Inc. has selected Krista Covey to manage the county's first business incubator, it announced in a release.
Covey will lead the SMARTstart Dade City Incubator, an organization aimed at working with entrepreneurs to help grow new businesses and create jobs in Pasco County. The incubator will help new businesses by providing inexpensive space and technical assistance, the county says.
Covey has already been working with startups through the Pasco Enterprise Network, a partnership of organizations in the county to foster entrepreneurial activity. She also helped create the Pasco EDC's microloan program for small businesses.
“Krista works with startups on a daily basis and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment,” John Hagen, president and CEO of PASCO EDC says in a release. “Her training in facilitation and coaching, experience as a commercial lender and connections in Tampa Bay's entrepreneurial community are essential to the launch of SMARTstart.”
Startup companies in the Tampa Bay interested in the SMARTstart program can contact Covey at 813-926-0827, Ext. 227.
