ESTERO — Federal regulators approved the Hertz Global Holdings acquisition of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, paving the way for the combined rental-car company to move its corporate headquarters from New Jersey to Lee County.

The Federal Trade Commission approved the acquisition on condition that Hertz sell its Advantage car-rental business and some airport locations.

New Jersey-based Hertz selected Lee County earlier this summer as the site for its new global corporate headquarters. The company has leased space in north Naples while its headquarters building is designed and built in south Lee County.

“We are pleased that the FTC has officially concluded its review of the Dollar Thrifty transaction,” says Mark Frissora, Hertz chairman and CEO, in a statement.  “Throughout this process we have worked closely with the agency, and the result has been a transaction that we believe will benefit our customers and shareholders for years to come.”
