NEW PORT RICHEY - Novus Medical Detox has hired veteran manager Kent Runyon as its new executive director, according to a release.

The center, which offers alcohol and drug detoxification treatment, is preparing to expand its facility from 12 private beds to 31. It is also adding a new wing that will accommodate 10 shared rooms.

Runyon has more than 20 years' experience in management, and was facility director of a 180-bed program, says Novus. He has a master's degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University, and completed a two-year executive leadership program sponsored by the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business. He has been an accreditation auditor for health care facilities since 1997.

The detox center is located on 3.25 acres in New Port Richey. Novus is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families as an in-patient medical detox facility, according to the release.
