Fund names president

Private Equity Group names Donald Schrotenboer president.

FORT MYERS — Private Equity Group named Donald Schrotenboer as president of the real estate investment firm.

Schrotenboer most recently served as president of Alico Land Development. Alico recently sold 5,300 acres near Florida Gulf Coast University to Private Equity Group, which has been involved in real estate in the area for nearly 30 years. Schrotenboer will oversee the development of that project and another development in the Cayman Islands.

O.J. Buigas will remain as CEO of Private Equity Group and Howard Baum serves as chief operating officer.

“Don's breadth and depth of experience, in everything from land and asset management to entitlements and resort operations, make him a perfect fit for Private Equity Group,” Baum says in a statement. “His vision and leadership abilities will be an asset to our great team.”

Prior to serving at Alico for four years, Schrotenboer was vice president and principal of the Gilkey Organization and vice president and director of development for Ave Maria Development.
