CAPE CORAL — The National Marine Manufacturers Association recently honored Bob Long, the owner and CEO of JRL Ventures-Marine Concepts, with the Alan J. Freedman Memorial Leadership Award.

During his 40 years in the marine business, Long has been president of Starcraft and Crestliner and later the chief executive of Wellcraft Marine for 17 years. He's been the owner and CEO of Cape Coral-based Marine Concepts for 19 years.

Marine Concepts makes precision molds used to create hulls and various fiberglass parts for the marine industry. The company diversified and has expanded into other industries, using the same technology to make molds for waterslide manufacturers, cockpits for flight simulators and protective covers for giant wind turbines.

“This year's Freedman Award recipient is truly a living legend in the recreational marine industry. Bob has made a career-long commitment to meet a need, provide quality, maintain on-time delivery, research new and innovative technology, and employ a very personal approach to marketing,” says Matt Chambers, Marine Concepts president, in a statement.
