ESTERO — Hertz has hired Thomas Kennedy to be its chief financial officer, replacing Elyse Douglas who resigned in September after declining to move to Florida.

Hertz is moving its corporate headquarters to Estero from Park Ridge, N.J. Douglas cited undisclosed personal reasons for not moving to Florida with top executives. The company is consolidating its headquarters in Estero after acquiring Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group.

Kennedy has been serving as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Hilton Worldwide since 2008, but he also has experience in the car-rental business. From 2003 to 2007, Kennedy served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Vanguard Car Rental Group and its National Car Rental and Alamo Rent-a-Car brands.

A graduate of Harvard University's M.B.A. program, Kennedy also has served in various financial capacities at Northwest Airlines.

“Tom has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in two previous CFO assignments with multi-national, travel industry companies,” says Hertz Chairman and CEO Mark Frissora, in a statement.  “His experience will be invaluable at Hertz as we continue to integrate Dollar Thrifty and evaluate strategic options and future capital deployment strategies going forward.”
