ST. PETERSBURG — Plasma-Therm, which manufactures semiconductor equipment and builds machines that can produce semiconductor chips, announced plans to significantly grow its sales network in China.

The St. Petersburg-based firm, according to a release, will work with Scientech, a large Taipei, Taiwan-based semiconductor equipment distributor. Scientech will sell Plasma-Therm products in the Greater China region, which includes Hong Kong and Taiwan, Plasma-Therm says.

“We see great potential for growth in China and Taiwan, and it is obvious that to be successful in the region we require not only capable sales representation but an organization with long experience, deep service infrastructure and a commitment to customer satisfaction above all,” says Jim Pollock, Plasma-Therm executive vice president of sales, in the statement. “By choosing Scientech as our partner, we have established the critical mass needed to serve our customers in the Greater China region to the highest levels for sales, service and after-sale support.”

Scientech, founded in 1979, is one of the largest semiconductor equipment distributors in Greater China, with more than 500 employees and 15 offices. Plasma-Therm was founded in 1974. The firm has clients in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
