TAMPA — MagneGas Corp. has signed an agreement with AccuGas LLC for the Jackson, Mich.-based company to distribute MagneGas fuel to the southern portion of Michigan.

Tampa-based MagneGas produces a natural gas of the same name as a hydrogen-based metal-working fuel similar to natural gas that can be made from certain liquid wastes. MagneGas promotes the fuel as a cleaner burning and less expensive alternative to acetylene and propane.

The agreement with AccuGas is part of MagneGas's strategy to focus on selling its fuel through independent regional distributors.

“We feel that with our newly created alliance with MagneGas, we can provide customers a product that offers not only a highly efficient process, but achieves their goals with creating a greener, cost-effective method.” Mark Poupard, owner of AccuGas, says in a press release. “This product is something truly rare that can meet all that criteria.”

MagneGas has had a focus on growing its share of the Michigan market for some time now. Following a distribution deal with New Baltimore, Mich.-based Blue Water Industrial Products Inc., the company opened a gas production facility in Rochester Hills, Mich., in late 2011. Since then it has landed a number of sales in the state, including to General Motors' Grand Blanc Weld & Tool Center and RJ Torching Inc. in Flint, Mich. and Detroit-based City Recycling.
