PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Weston-based Comfort Cove Care LLC purchased 6.6 acres on the east side of 14th Street north of Cortez Road for $1 million.
The price equated to $151,423 per acre.
After developing and operating several senior-housing properties in the Midwest, Comfort Cove Care sold them off to expand in the south. It plans to develop its first assisted-living facility in Florida on the Bradenton site.
Brent Crego, chairman of Comfort Cove Care, says Comfort Cove of Bradenton will feature 52 beds. The two-story building will house 38 standard assisted-living beds and another 14 devoted to patients with memory care issues.
“We hope to start as soon as we can,” Crego says. “We're waiting for the final sign off [on the site plan]. Generally when we get started we want to be done in six months.”
He says the company was attracted to the site by the lack of other assisted-living facilites, its proximity to Manatee Memorial Hospital and downtown and the speed of approvals from the city and county.
