CLEARWATER — Tech Data, Florida's second largest public company, says one of its top managers has resigned.

Murray Wright, president of the Americas for Tech Data, resigned to become CEO at Zones Inc., a Washington-based technology solutions provider, says a statement released Friday by Tech Data (symbol: TECD; recent price: $52.85).

Wright, who joined Tech Data in 2006, was responsible for leading sales, marketing and logistics operations in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Until Wright's successor is named, company operations will report to Dutkowsky.

“Murray's leadership has been instrumental in guiding our Americas region through a number of strategic initiatives that position Tech Data for long-term success,” Tech Data CEO Bob Dutkowsky says in the statement.

Murray replaces Firoz Lalji as Zones' CEO. Lalji has been CEO and chairman of Zones since 1998 and a director since 1990, according to that company's website. Zones Inc. is a 788-person company founded in 1988, according to Yahoo Finance. Lalji also owns Fana Capital Corp., an investment holding company in the U.S. and Canada.
