PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Gary Jodat, founder and managing attorney of Jodat Law Group PA, and his wife, Lisa Jodat, purchased a 8,909-square-foot office building for $1.32 million.
The price equated to $147 per square foot. That figure is higher than the two-year average price per square foot for office space ($115) in the Tampa Bay area, according to the CoStar Group.
The couple purchased the building to serve as a larger Sarasota office location for the law firm.
“Our former location was a ranch house that was converted into office space,” says Gary Jodat. “It was only about 1,300 square feet. Our business has been growing to the point where it no longer satisfied out needs. So we started searching for a new building on U.S. 41. I believe that the market is at the point where there are some advantages to owning real estate again.”
Jodat also plans to move the company's administrative headquarters from its Bradenton office to the new Sarasota location. The law firm will continue to lease out the third floor of the building to Bright Day Home Healthcare and a portion of the first floor to another tenant.
