D.R. Horton buys more lots to build more homes in Willow Chase

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Homebuilder D.R. Horton Inc. purchased 25 lots in the Willow Chase gated community for $1.48 million.

The price equated to $59,000 per lot.

The 63-acre Willow Chase community is approved for a total of 147 homes. To date, D.R. Horton has built 34 homes there and another 44 were completed by other builders, says Jill Meeks, vice president of sales and marketing for D.R. Horton.

She says sales there have performed so well that the builder was eager to buy the rest of Willow Chase.

“What's attractive is really the location of the community and the floor plans we offer,” she says. “We also have very low fees and no [community development district]. We expect to be done there within the year.”

The community features a clubhouse, tennis court, fitness center, walking trails and community pool.

D.R. Horton new homes will range in size from 1,840 to 2,587 square feet of living space and start in the $200,000s.

Founded in 1978, Fort Worth, Texas-based D.R. Horton has operations in 72 markets in 26 states.
